Book: Phidon Design Classics Vol. Three
Conceived by the French designer Philippe Starck this cast aluminum lemon juicer was created for the Italian Manufacturer Alessi. Some how this piece makes a lemon juicer a little controversial. While looking interesting it is not as practical as you may think as it's tipping point is very high and too tall to store. However it is formed with the idea that if you squeeze it on top the ravines of the shape carry the juice down to a glass placed under the legs...which by the way are pointy enough to dent weaker work surfaces. Yet it is elegant looking in design and is very affordable as it does not have complicated pieces to clean or remove

You may have noticed from my Project 4 that I like tall fonts like Helvetica. The one I used was Andes and this one is Hill House. Hill House is a typeface based on the distinctive handwriting of Glasgow architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928) Used in extreme frequency in Glasgow it is still used today as a fun font for Wedding invitations.

If I were to create a font I would use other objects interacting with each other as these playful geese do in a cloudy cityscape to form a G. Almost like finding forms in the clouds, objects can be made to do this as well.
Personal Note: Make a font using cats and dogs and mice and simple House furniture

Destorying type? or Painting with charecters.. David Carson I feel usds characters like a painter uses color, and if you had to give a feel to his work it is like .. rock and roll! What ever you come away from this he definitely revolutionized visual communications in the 90s. one of his most famous works was "The End of Print"

This poster just look heavy and solid as it should as it's advertising a heavy weight championship. The jagged font is pretty effective to signify conflict/competition

Art Deco Anyone? While maybe not the most "organized" or space efficient. It will definitely make your office feel more "hip". Hard to go wrong with simple White and black

No Longer do I think Beer is gross and dirty. Thanks to this it makes it look clean and classy. This personal brewery is one of the first in the world and unleased a campaign to expaned their influence. Fantastic job. My favorite "oh clever" moment when I saw this was the two beer glasses making the W , representing Williams Warn. The media of the pressed print into soft card stock really gives it a comfortable feel, something important to relaxing with a beer.

Design at work teaching students while motivating students. I like how clever this is however you can tell it is not on the actual items...what if... it was. That would be nice for a school to have that. Maybe, even a series of motivational phrases

I wasn't even sure what this was at first until I took a closer look. I simply thought it looks cool! Investigating it as a book holder for this oubey series I find this extremely successful . Even though you can't read oubey on the front cover, I don't feel you need to as you can on the binding. It simply looks interesting and like a puzzle you figure it out as you look at it longer.

Created for a high end business presentation this would not be something you would mass produce however a lot of effort and thought went into this. For good reason you want to dress to impress and the media and design you are showing needs to live up to what you are presenting. In this case it's a new plane! Study and light weight the metal material lines up this purpose. Something I noticed as well was the the simplicity and professionalism in the placement of all the elements within this little booklet

Standing over 2,074 feet tall, Shanghai Tower will be the tallest building in China and the worlds second tallest building. This is an amazing feet of engineering and design as it's sloping winding feature make the sunlight beam off it at interesting angles at any time of the day. I was taken away by the building and just had to look at it for awhile.

Book: 100 Best in Design 2012 Nobody. If only I had thought of putting this text ghostly over a messed up picture of someone moving while I took a picture. It seems deep and cool while it probably was not that hard to create. I'm starting to see that as a trend. Sometimes simple is better...even though I feel like it is not worth as much as art... this was probably worth as much in paying someone to do it. All Aside I absolutely love this! Removing most of the identifiable features of someone and keeping the "suit" is a great reference of someone being anyone and no one. It looks mysterious which is precisely what the article wants to convey.

Oil Book: 100 Best in Design 2012 Keeping the professional look with the newsprint fonts. Yet making it interesting with layering the oil over the type just a little making it organic/fluid, the lines are thick as well like Oil. This is really well done and simple getting an important point across while being an interesting piece

Simple Yet effective. It brings back the old cartoon style of comic books of old including the font treatment and simple block colors. Throw in a little humor at the bottom and it's fantastic!

CMYK Magazine: Graphic Deign Published Student Work
When I saw this I had an instant reaction of "Oooohhh". That is a really neat idea! relatively inexpensive and uses the environment specifically without defacing it at all. The only weak point it may have is for it to maintain it's similar style on a normal billboard you would need to create default collage art to put behind it. (Or cover up an existing billboard I suppose that would be possible too...given permission of course)

Making fun of the birth right of our president was a huge thing for awhile. Also Colbert wanting to run for President was no secret. Even though it was all for show and fun he had a pretty decent team for his "running campaign". What I like most about this is the composition of making fun of the president as well as a fantastic satirical serious picture of him wearing all the campaign buttons as if they were medals.

Book: 100 Best in Design 2012 Ohhh Zach, This guy is a fantastic comedian and just weird funny. This graphic matches his style really well. I love the creativity of the milk carton holding all the information in a way that fits like the instructions of recipe. Creating, if you will, a fantastic night of comedy and you get it quickly.
